Description

  1. Direct-with-provider medical history intake. ADx will schedule a phone call with the patient and intake relevant medical history data as part of the overall exam.

  2. Genetic testing (ApoE & MTHFR). ApoE is the single most dominant gene for assessing Alzheimer’s disease risk, accounting for roughly 50% of overall genetic risk. MTHFR variations have been shown in research studies to be correlated with risk for Alzheimer’s disease and may open up novel possibilities for disease risk reduction and related wellness. The MTHFR gene produces an enzyme that processes folate and regulates homocysteine levels in the body. Variants associated with MTHFR cause reduced function and activity of the MTHFR enzyme, often resulting in increased homocysteine levels. Depending on the variants present, ADx would recommend supplements of folate or vitamin B-12 in order to regulate serum levels of homocysteine. High homocysteine levels in the blood are associated with impaired memory function in both MCI and AD cases.
